BORN IN A BARN

A band that play the permanent switch up, from Ska to Hip Hop, Reggae to Soul there’s never a dull moment when these guys take the stage. Residing from the Isle of Wight, speaking from the heart about the situations faced by clicky small communities in rural England. Born Ina Barn comes with a front man combination of Baritone, 1Lung & Ambush Tactics. Musically backed by The Goose on bass dropping One Stone Riddims, Dr Jon on lead guitar & DJ Mewtant on turn tables. Known all across the south coast as an upbeat, quirky & most importantly an original live act bound to get you up out your seats.

Formed 6 years ago as No Fixed Abode by Isle of Wighters Alex Harvey, Louis Woodbridge & Joe Barnes. A punk, a Rasta and a Hip Hop junkie fused their influences with a rural twist. Within a year they recorded a 5 track demo & began to perform across the south coast, supporting the likes of renowned battle rappers (Stig of the dump & Dr Syntax) & Los Angeles hip hop acts (Ugly Duckling & Halfway House Emcees).

Baritone also took part in a supporting acts from the other side of the pond including : Cold Crush Bros (New York), Stones Throw Records, Peanutbutter Wolf, Percee P, Guilty Simpson, J-Rocc, Aloe Blacc (Los Angeles) as part of supergroup Wightstyle.

In 2008 they went on to form Born Ina Barn, and released their debut E.P. Close Door, collaborating with fellow islanders Ambush Tactics. This resulted in a Friday night slot in the Come Dancing tent at Sunday Best’s Bestival later that year. A slot they have held ever since.

In 2009 they collaborated on Ambush Tactics debut E.P. Fatherhood and went back on the road around the south, performing alongside Kid British (UK), Floors and Walls (UK) and Giant Panda (Los Angeles).

After a year out (during which Baritone travelled to New Zealand and performed under the Born Ina Barn moniker around the country) the guys hit the studio and recorded The Black sheep – A 14-track album, with the line up boosted by Dr. Jon on guitar and DJ Mewtant on the decks, plus various other guests.

In 2010 they went on to release there first full length Lp (The Black Sheep), numerous headline appearances were made, along with radio appearances and a Friday evening slot in the Come Dancing tent at Camp Bestival in Dorset.

So far in 2011 they have had there music played on BBC Introducing, stormed The Soul Cellar in Southampton supporting (The Correspondents) hit Newquay, Hythe & have head lined many different shows back home on the Isle Of Wight & bookings have been made for this summers (Camp Bestival, The Boom Town Fair, V-Dub Island, Aeon & legends in the park supporting the fun Loving criminals). By spring Born Ina Barn and the rest of the family will have (Rustik Records - Vol.1) published and sub released by (Munch Records). There first release will be a 4-track sampler available on itunes and other major download sites.
